My onc has told me that if my CBC and BCR-ABL all come back normal, there is no need for BMB. If those numbers start changing, especially in the bcr-abl, that's when I have had to go back and have a BMB. I was on Gleevec for 1 1/2 years when my numbers starting going up on the bcr-abl, that's when I had the BMB and was switched to Sprycel. I think these "expensive" blood tests are very accurate and will give the onc a good indication of whether a BMB is necessary.

Just wondering. Am I the only one here who's never had a BMB? About a year into my little journey my onc mentioned one. But when I asked what we would learn from a BMB that would alter my course of treatment he didn't really have an answer. (My CBC numbers all jumped to the normal range within 2 months of starting Gleevec. - Well, excluding CD4/CD8 counts anyway which are part of my much longer story.) So not being that curious I/we opted to continue blood counts and BCR-ABL testing as long as things are stable. He opined that he wished he had a baseline but that was about it.
