Hi Beth. I was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after going on Tasigna. Wonder if that's a coincidence or if it causes it. I'm 71 and have lots of health issues, so thought it was just another one to put on the list. I was on Gleevec for years, but it stopped working for me. I am on 800mg of Tasigna, each day. I really listen to how I'm suppose to take it, and don't cheat on that. I have my liver checked all of the time, and so far, so good. Everyone has different side effects. I'm among the lucky ones and constipation is my only real side effect and I've been on it over 2 years now. I have lots less side effects on Tasigna, then I had on Gleevec. I do wish you well, and pray that you can tolerate it. Please let us know. Hello out there! My name is Beth and I am 48 and was diagnosed with CML on February 12th, 2010. I ws placed on Gleevec and tried for 2.5 months but was unable to tolerate the side effects so I have been on Tasigna for the last 6 weeks....LIver enzymas 3X normal and have become diabetic, needing to take insulin at night with the chemo...Have been on 200 Mill. a day, half a dose, and just moved up to 300mgs two days ago..lots of body pain and nausea onthe higher dose. I hope it calms down...I am here to share hope with others who are on this journey. It has been a scarry time. I know I am still adjusting.. Hope to hear from someone out there.
