Hello all,
I was doing really well on Sprycel but recently developed a really bad
headache that medicine won't cure. It feels like my sinus and hurt behind my
eyes and etc. I was around a person with a really bad cold but she was
coughing and etc so don't know if it is a bug. Anyone had this on Sprycel?
Thanks so much. I have been on Sprycel for about 4 yeas.

Hi Kelly,

Although I have never been on any TKI's I wouldn't know about any
depression that they may cause. What I do know is what I always say. Leukemia
is a
disease of both the body and mind. When I had Leukemia I was very
depressed, who wouldn't be? I had a bone marrow transplant more then 23 years
ago
and now I have kidney failure and am on dialysis. Am I depressed now?
Absolutely not. I often ask myself why am I not depressed going through
dialysis.
They stick two large needles into my arm, and it hurts like hell, and I
have to sit there for four hours but it doesn't depress me.

As I said Leukemia is a disease of the body and mind. Maybe the TKI's are
not necessarily your problem. The whole thing is to make your mind work in
your favor. You just need to really try focusing on some of the good things
in your life.

I usually say that you are sitting on one side of a child's See-Saw. There
you are with all of these problems on your shoulders weighing on you and
bringing you down. Now let's say you start putting some of the good things in
your life (if we look hard enough we can find some of these good things)
Start putting these good things on the opposite side and what happens then?

Your side starts coming up and some of that burden is lifted right off of
your shoulders...

I wish you well, and I always end any of my posts with two numbers, 18
which symbolizes life.

18's to you Kelly

Marty

Dear Friends,
The only antidepressant that works with less side effects in my son was
Wellbutrin.
It seems that for the ones who take gleevec this is the only
antidepressant you should take. Talk to your doctor about that.
Bless you all.

Does anyone else suffer from severe cycles of depression related to
the TKI's? I have taken all 3 (Gleevec, Sprycel and Tasigna).

During "vacations" from these drugs and prior to diagnosis, I had
never experienced such severe depressive episodes.

I'm talking about a tornado touchdown with complete devastation to the
point of suicidal ideation. Can't stop crying, hide from the world and
just die. Bleh!

They plop me on various antidepressants every time I start a new TKI,
which are totally ineffective and increases various side effects. I am
one of the oddballs that gets rare side effects and I react badly to
just about everything they give me.

So, I'm probably the oddball who reacts psychologically to these
drugs, too. I can't explain it, control it or avoid it.

Just curious - anyone else?
Kelly
