I would like to ask a few questions about BCR-ABL test and other blood
test that we go through every 3-6 months. I'm not sure if we all get the
same tests depending on what drug we are taking. I take 400 mg Gleevec. I
have noticed some very expensive charges for blood tests recently. I get 5
vials of blood drawn every 6 months. The costs for the test has been as high
as $3500 and $2400 at the low end. I am being treated at the Cleveland
Clinic cancer center in Independence, Ohio but sometime go to another
Cleveland clinic facility for the blood tests. I think I'm being overcharged
by
the off site facility. Does anyone keep a list of their charges for
blood test? How do they compare to the Cleveland Clinic charges? Do you have
price swings in charges at your clinic/hospital?.....................Would
appreciate everyone's input. Not sure this went out to the whole group the
first time.

Hello everyone:

I don't know if I posted my results or not, but they came back "none
detected" once again........it's been this way straight through since the
beginning of 2010......YIPPEE!!! My doctor is letting me cut the Gleevec
back
to 100mgs a day and we will see how that does. I will celebrate my tenth
anniversary of my diagnosis next February 6th (according to my mom as
that's her birthday and she always reminds me that I called her and told her
on
her birthday about the diagnosis.)

I see the new Pain Management Specialist this coming Friday. I do hope he
is able to help me. I have had two awful bad nights in a row now. Was
doing much better up till then. Been seeing my Chiropractor regular and
he's been helping me quite a bit with my Sciatic leg pain and hip pain. But,
then the arthritis in the SI joints decided to act up and there isn't a
whole lot he can do for that. I've been hitting my bottle of pain meds pretty
regular for past two days. I am beginning to think my husband may be right
about me being in a wheel chair soon. But, I will do all I can to fight
that and keep going. I don't mind walking with my cane if I need to, but
don't want to give into the wheel chair before I turn 60 years old.

Alright, gotta get going now. Y'all have a great day and enjoy the
summer.....
