Hi, Gil.
"Indoor plumbing" is just a shorthand way of referring to the up-to-date
and extended version of CMS Pipelines that you can download from Marist,
as opposed to the "outdoor" plumbing included in z/VM 6.3 and earlier
releases.
z/VM 6.4 Pipes does include the warp stage as well as the warplist
stage, so you should be able to continue using it in your code with no
changes needed.
z/VM 6.4 Pipes does *not* contain the cipher encryption/decryption stage
that some sites have available. If you need to do ciphering with Pipes,
there is the KM package available on the z/VM download page that
performs DES, TDES and AES encryption if you are running on hardware
that supports the KMx instructions.
Have a good one.

I am not aware that WARP would be a bad thing. There's ways to

I'm using it to my satisfaction, though if I were to review my
own code it would take me a long time to understand it.
And when this list apprised me of WARP, I thought I sensed
some condescension. And from the Author's Edition:
! 4.4.260 warp--Pipeline Wormhole

Hmmm. Plumber's humor?
! Notes:
• ! warp does not implement function that cannot be implemented with
! multistream pipelines, proper connection of streams, faninany, and,
! not least, sufficient stamina, but it is an easy way to gather data

• ! warp sets the internal wait flag, which means that it cannot cause
the
! pipeline set to go into a wait state; thus it cannot obscure a stall.
• ! The workings of warp are similar to a UNIX named pipe. In fact, a
! pitcher can establish a catcher by a different name to receive a
! reply, and then send the private catcher's name in the message it
! pitches to a server that has a well known name.
! However, such practice is not considered pipethink.
Heck; I've got so much procedural Rexx left that I don't aspire
to be a plumber. I guess I have insufficient stamina.
What's "indoor plumbing"?
Thanks,
