Thanks Warren, Cameron for the information

My client's server is running on Win plateform. These CMS can be used on Win
Server?

I have a long way to go to learn how to work with CMS. Right now, I am just
trying to pick it up hoping that it is not hard ;) Just seems so
complicating to me right now.

Warren when is your research due? I'm not sure if I will be able to
implement this successfully due to my lack of knowledge in CMS. But I will
give you some feedbacks if it works.

Best Wishes,
Jaime .......

Hi Jaime

The strengths of Zope/Plone are argued to be the usergroups, and Plone's
commitment to documentation and usability. See: plone.org, Zope.org,
OzZope.org, & http://docs.communitye.net/

Many of the gurus of the Zope & Plone dev communities are active on the
http://oscom.org list.

Zope is said to have a steep learning curve but Plone can be an easy first
step. While hosting a Zope-intranet is free, but Zope-Internet hosting is
usually an extra coast and may involve changing ISPs.

James Roberston suggests "Open source CMSs have matured to the point where
they should be considered side-by-side with commercial alternitives", but
there is a risk of over-investment in technical development. (Why? Because
you can!) (See www.steptwo.com.au re: open source CMSs - February 2004).

Case studies about Plone's use in rural Australia are beginning to be
published, There's Kevin Tharp's forthcoming Ph.D, for example:
http://infocom.cqu.edu.au/Staff/Kevin_Tharp/Research/
Otherwise, there's my notes on Community Portals & Demand Aggregation as
presented to OzZope.org.
http://www.ozzope.org/Members/warren_crosbie/minutes1oct03/
I'm a masters student at Monash University. I researching some social and
training aspects of a Plone-community-portal (www.netc.coop) for towns in
Australia. I'd be interested to hear how you go with your implementation.

Subject: [WSG CMS] Plone

Hi

I have never tried any CMS except for Movable Type. I came across
http://plone.org and was wondering if it will be a good program to use for
updating of projects and for my personal portfolio. For clients with huge
product gallery, a CMS will help them a lot but I have never implemented
one.

What are your recommendations and views on Plone? Will it have issues with
W3C xhtml validations?

Best Wishes,
Jaime
