Right. The LF38 and also the 40 have watertight crash bulkheads at the bow and the leading edge of the keel stub. I'm sure most C&C's of that vintage are similar. A long time ago a friend with a 40 holed his keel and didn't even know it until his next haul out. While ripping out my v-berth water tank (it leaked anyway) to create storage space I had a good opportunity to examine the inside of my hull. It's solid glass at the bow, and the cored hull starts about ten feet back. The solid part at the bow is as thick as the cored midsection, which is about three times as thick as you'll find on some current production boats.
