The nylon anchor rode will sort of act as a counter wick.again the rode will
last longer and stay strong if it is kept wet so why the big worry about
some moisture in the anchor locker, no one sleeps in there and it is an open
enclosure.

What about a wick from the puddle to the drain?

I'm with Tim on this, constant puddle in the locker. I have some Dri-Deck
sitting around I'll put down there the next time I have all the rode out.
(The last time was in Desolation Sound, when I wanted to get the twists out
of the system. 300 feet of line and 100 feet of chain with a Delta 35 is a
lot to pull back up, glad I have a windlass. Glad I had 500 feet of water to
play in...)

I have the original sized hole (and original gel coat). I have no problems
with it getting plugged, but it's not right at the bottom of the locker, so
I end up with a puddle. I've been thinking about dry deck for a while,
especially with new rode last year. It may be time to cross an easy project
off the list.

Now if only I could get my hands on the boat (repairs are still under way).
Lots of jobs getting done round the house though...
