Joel, before you invest in a transformer, look at 12 V powers adapters for laptops. Something like this (as an example): https://www.amazon.com/Dv7-1245dx-Dv7-6c95dx-Dv6-7210us-Dv6-7246us-Dv7-7227cl/dp/B004ARP28O .
Also, for the brave who want to try it, there is a Linux USB-key-based “PC on a stick” that retails for $25-$75 (https://www.xtra-pc.com/). I got a Dell micro PC on sale for $129. The power supply is 45w at 19 volts, so I'll need a small transformer. I ordered a 19 inch Samsung TV for use as a monitor. It runs on 14 volts. With keyboard and mouse, I'm out about $300. Add a 128 GB SD card and I should be in business. Joel
