I rarely involve The Admiral in anchoring, but when I do I just use hand 
signals. Radios seem overkill for this.
By the way, the endless variety of Baofeng (sp?) radios available for cheap are 
not legal for this use. Not that this stops anyone, but they aren’t. They are 
legally usable as ham radios only if you have a ham license. They come with a 
weird random set of frequencies from China that are kind of scattered around 
and not remotely legal in the USA or Canada.
If you buy these things, at least program them for FRS/GMRS/MURS frequencies. 
The radios are not type accepted for that, but at least they’ll be on legal 
frequencies 😉
