Bent County:
--Duane Nelson reported 2 red Fox Sparrows and 8 White-throated Sparrows near
the Purgatoire River on November 28 and 2 Swamp Sparrows near the spot where
he found the Le Conte's Sparrow last spring.
Boulder County:
--On November 21, Gent reported a first year Long-tailed Duck and imm Thayer's
Gull at Lagerman. On November 30, Waltman reported a White-winged Scoter and
Long-tailed Duck at Lagerman.
--A female type White-winged Scoter was reported by Floyd at McIntosh Lake in
Longmont on November 21. Szeliga reported a flyover Thayer's Gull at McIntosh
on November 26. On November 29, Sanders reported a juv White-winged Scoter and
Long-tailed Duck at McIntosh.
--5 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches were reported by Szeliga at Red Rock Lake in the
Brainard Lake Recreation Area on November 25.
--A Pacific Wren (Winter Wren split) was reported by Floyd where 63rd St crosses
the St Vrain on November 26. Lee refound the Pacific Wren on November 28. The
area is south of CO 66 and north of Hygiene Road.
Douglas County:
--A Bohemian Waxwing was reported by Reynolds in Castlewood Canyon on November
28.
Douglas/Jefferson Counties:
--A female Black Scoter was reported by Kellner at Chatfield by the Marina
Sandspit on November 25.
--A pair of Tundra Swans was reported by Kellner at Chatfield State Park on
November 26.
--A Pacific Loon was reported by Sanders at Chatfield on November 27.
--A "western" Veery was reported by Kellner at Chatfield on November 28.
Eagle County:
--A m Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by Beason at Blue Lake on November 27.
--1 m Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by McConnell at Blue Lake on November 28.
--1 m Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by McConnell at Spring Park Reservoir on
November 28. Spring Park Reservoir is private, but can be scoped from Upper
Cattle Creek Road.
Fremont County:
--2 Chichuahuan Ravens were reported by Moss on the east side of Canon City on
November 26.
--The Golden-crowned Sparrow that has been around since October was refound by
Rich Miller on Tunnel Drive on November 27. Miller also reported several
Rufous-crowned Sparrows at Tunnel Drive.
Garfield County:
--15 Barrow's Goldeneyes (9m, 6f) were reported by McConnell at the Ranch at
Roaring Fork in Carbondale on November 28.
Grand County:
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches were reported by Deininger in Kremmling at the
corner of 9th and Grand on November 25.
Larimer County:
--At least a pair of White-winged Crossbills were reported by Leatherman in
Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins on November 22. They were seen in section E
of the cemetery. On November 30, around 8:15 am Kogler refound the male
White-winged Crossbill near the entrance to Grandview and around 11:30 am
Leatherman and a few birders relocated the pair of crossbill in a spruce in
Sect 7.
--A Pacific Loon was reported by Kaempfer at Douglas Reservoir on November 21
and refound by Komar on November 28.
--3 White-winged Scoters were reported by Wild at North Poudre Reservoir #3 on
November 13 and 2 were refound by Komar on November 28.
Logan/Sedgwick Counties:
--At Jumbo Reservoir on November 20, Wild reported a juv YELLOW-BILLED LOON.
Kellner refound the Loon on November 27. Kellner also reported 1 Pacific Loon
at Jumbo on November 27.
Montezuma County:
--A pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes was reported by Garrison at the upper end of
McPhee Reservoir on November 26.
Pueblo County:
--The DFO field trip to the Pueblo area on November 28 led by Sanders and
Percival saw:
----2 White-winged Doves in the Sunset Park Subdivision
----1 ad MEW GULL and a Pacific Loon at Pueblo Reservoir
----1 Black Phobe at Rock Canyon
Routt County:
--2 m Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Dotson at Lake Catamount on November
25.
--28 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Dotson at Stagecoach Reservoir on
November 25.
Summit County:
--12 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Deininger at the Sewage Pond at
Silverthorne on November 25. On November 29, McConnell reported 20 Barrow's
Goldeneyes (9m, 8f, 3j) at the Sewage Plant.
--7 Barrow's Goldeneyes (2m, 4f, 1j) were reported by McConnell at Lake Dillon
on November 29.
Washington County:
--4 Pacific Loons were reported by Kellner at Prewitt on November 27.
Weld County:
--At Lower Latham on November 27, Kellner reported a late American Bittern, 1
ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 1st-cycle Glaucous Gull, and heard 1 Swamp
Sparrow.
--A Long-tailed Duck was reported by Komar at Windsor Reservoir on November 28.
The DFO Field trip for Saturday, December 5 will be to Deer Creek Canyon led by
Lynn Willcockson (303-757-7000). Meet the Leader at 0800 at the entrance to
the Arboretum on Deer Creek Canyon Road about a 1/4 mile west of Wadsworth.
Half-day trip, lunch optional. Please call the Leader to let him know if you
plan to attend.
The DFO Field trip for Sunday, December 6 will be to Barr Lake and Roads East
led by Tim Smart (303-439-9627) and Meredith Anderson (303-280-8576). Meet the
Leaders at 0830 at the Barr Lake Visitors Center parking lot. Bring lunch, a
scope, and 2-way radios if you have them. Trip should wrap up by 2 pm. State
Parks Pass or fee required. Please notify Meredith if you plan to participate.
