--A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Parsons at the pond near the model airplane
field at Cherry Creek SP on May 8.
Baca County:
--A Northern Parula was reported by Dunning at Two Buttes on May 8.
Bent County:
--A probable GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was reported by Dan Maynard at Tempel Grove on
May 6.
--At Hasty Campground, Dan Maynard reported 6 Indigo Buntings on May 6.
--A m Nashville Warlber was reported by Duane Nelson at Van's Grove on May 8.
Boulder County:
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Floyd on May 4 at the base of
Gregory Canyon in Boulder.
--A imm Broad-winged Hawk was observed by Wednesday Roadrunners west of Clover
Basin on May 5.
--A Worm-eating Warbler was reported by Nunes on the South Mesa Trail
off of Eldorado Drive on May 5.
--1 American Golden-Plover and 1 Piping Plover were reported by John T at
Clover Basin near Longmont on May 6. The Piping Plover was seen on May 7 by
Floyd.
--2 Caspian Terns were reported by Boswell at Clover Basin on May 7.
--A Little Blue Heron was reported by Lamoureux at North Teller Lake in Boulder
on May 6.
--A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Szeliga and Pieplow in Twin Lakes on
May 8.
--A Green Heron and Broad-winged Hawk were reported by Plage at Walden/Sawhill
Ponds in Boulder on May 8.
Broomfield County:
--A singing Nashville Warbler was reported by Zorwawowicz in the NE corner of
Nissen Reservoir in Broomfield on May 6. Nissen is south of 136th Ave on Aspen
St.
Delta County:
--A Least Tern was reported by Robinsong at Sweitzer Lake SP on May 6.
--A Least Tern was reported by Robinsong at Fruitgrowers Reservoir on May 6.
Douglas County:
--A dark morph Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Shade at Chatfield SP on May
5. It was seen along the concrete trail from the Plum Creek Parking lot.
--A female Northern Parula was reported by Walbek near the Plum Creek River
mouth at Chatfield on May 5.
--A pair of Black-and-white Warblers was reported by Halverstadt in Louviers on
May 8.
Eagle County:
--52 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Filby at Spring Park Reservoir on May
6. Filby reported 32 Barrow's Goldeneyes on May 8. The reservoir has NO
public access and is viewable distantly from the road.
El Paso County:
--A possible Golden-winged Warbler was reported by DuHadway at Palmer Lake on
May 6. It was left of the entrance nearest to County Line Road parking lot.
--A Northern Parula was banded by Elwonger at Fountain Creek RP, Area 7 on May
8.
--A Black Phoebe and Northern Parula were reported by Pals on the Fountain
Creek RP spring count on May 8.
El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
At Chico Basin Ranch (Fee):
--A male Tennessee Warbler was reported by Percival in willows at Headquarters
(Pueblo) on May 5.
--A singing Northern Waterthrush was reported by Percival at the RMBO banding
station (El Paso) on May 5.
--1-2 Northern Parulas were reported by Percival at the Banding Station (El
Paso) on May 6.
--1-2 Ovenbirds were reported by Percival at the Banding Station on May 6.
--A MOURNING WARBLER was found by Rutherford at Rose Pond (Pueblo) on May 6.
--A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported by Percival at Headquarters (Pueblo) on May
6.
--A Northern Parula was banded by Gobris (El Paso) on May 7.
--A Northern Parula was reported by Percival at Rose Pond (Pueblo) on May 7.
--On May 8, Drummond reported a Black-bellied Plover at HQ Pond (Pueblo); a
Nashville Warbler was banded at Holmes (El Paso); and a Northern Parula at both
Holmes and Rose Pond (Pueblo).
Garfield County:
--A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Dexter about 1/2 mile north of Harvey Gap on
May 4. It was south of CR 226 and east of CR 237. Dahl reported seeing the
GLOSSY IBIS on May 6.
Jefferson County:
--4 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Plage at the Dinosaur Ridge Hawkwatch
on May 5.
--A Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Chavez at Red Rocks on May 6
and 7.
--A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Hackos at Lair o' the Bear on May 8.
LaPlata County:
--A Caspian Tern was reported by Allerton at Pastorius Reservoir on May 4.
Larimer County:
--At Grandview Cemetery on May 7, Leatherman reported that the 3 White-winged
Crossbills continue.
--2 INCA DOVES were reported by Reeser at Boyd Lake SP on May 7. Take the
first road south and drive past the camp ground to end of road.
--Up to 4 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Leatherman along the Poudre River
north of Prospect on May 7.
--A singing male Northern Parula was reported by Leatherman at Riverbend Ponds
NA on May 7.
--A Green Heron was reported by Leatherman at Cattail Chorus NA on May 7.
Mesa County:
--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Walker NE of Loma on Q Rd in Siberian Elms
on May 8. It was 50 yards east of the intersection of Q & 14 Roads.
Prowers County:
--At Lamar Community College Woods:
----On May 3, Wild reported 1 singing PRAIRIE WARBLER, 1 singing
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, 1 f MOURNING WARBLER, 2 Broad-winged Hawks,
1 White-eyed Vireo, 1 Cassin's Vireo, and 1 possible BLUE-HEADED VIREO.
----On May 6, Dan Maynard reported 1 KENTUCKY WARBLER and 1 Worm-eating Warbler
on the north end.
----On May 7, Dunning reported YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at the south end and
Northern Waterthrush in Central portion.
----On May 8, Duane Nelson reported a singing male YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at
the Tennis courts, a male Chestnut-sided Warbler at the north end, a male
Black-throated Green Warbler at the south end, and a Northern Waterthrush in
the central portion.
--At Fairmount Cemetery on May 7, Dunning reported Blackpoll Warbler and Indigo
Buntings. 3 Blackpoll Warblers were reported by Peterson at Fairmount Cemetery
on May 8.
--A Magnolia Warbler was found by Peterson & Wild at the Lamar High School
Woods on May 8.
Routt County:
--3 Black-bellied Plovers in breeding plumage were reported by Dodson at the
new wetlands at Yampa River SWA west of Hayden on May 1. Luke reported 1
Black-bellied Plover on May 7.
--3 GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Luke at Yampa River SWA on May 7.
Washington County:
--On April 29, Walbek found a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER on Hwy 36 near CR B and
on May 2 Kellner refound the bird near CR B.5. Chavez
saw the bird at CR B.5 on May 4.
Weld County:
--A TRICOLORED HERON was reported by Griffin in the wetland to the south of
Lower Latham Reservoir on CR 48 on May 5. The heron was seen again on May 6 by
DeFonso.
May 8 and 9th Annual Spring Bird Counts:
Sunday, May 9:
--Castlewood Canyon State Park: Leader: Randy Lentz (303-680-3381). Meet at
0630 at old entrance. From CO 86, 0.5 miles west of Franktown, turn south on
Castlewood Canyon Road, go 2 miles to old entrance. State Parks Pass required.
--Rocky Mountain Arsenal: Leader: Urling Kingery (303-814-2733)
Monday, May 10:
--Cherry Creek Reservoir: Leader: Bob Brown (303-791-6204). Meet at 0630 at
the Marina on west side. State Parks Pass required.
