Arapahoe County:
--A f SCARLET TANAGER was reported by Hatch near the west entrance picnic table
area at Cherry Creek State Park on May 13.
Bent County:
--On May 14 at Tempel Grove, Wild reported 1 WOOD THRUSH, 1 singing
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, 3 Northern Waterthrush, 1 Ovenbird, 1 Broad-winged Hawk,
and 3 singing Harris's Sparrows.
Boulder County:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Szeliga on the Twin Lakes Trail in
the Gunbarrel area on May 10. A White-winged Dove was reported by Szeliga on a
traffic light at the intersection of Lookout Road and Spine Road in the
Gunbarrel area on May 12.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Klaver in Twin Lakes, Gunbarrel on May
11. Szeliga refound the waterthrush on May 14.
--A Northern Parula was reported by Lamoureux on the South Mesa Trail on May
14. It was in the loop between the parking lot and the bridge.
El Paso County:
--At Sondermann Park in Colorado Springs on May 11, Burns reported a Northern
Parula and Tennessee Warbler on the Westfork Trail and a Broad-winged Hawk
overhead. On May 14 at Sondermann Park, Burns reported Northern Parula,
Black-and-white Warbler and 1-2 Northern Waterthrush.
--At Fountain Creek Regional Park on May 14, Pals reported Hooded Warbler,
Northern Waterthrush, and Chihuahuan Raven and Percival reported 5 Northern
Waterthrush and a m Indigo Bunting.
--At Hanson NA on May 14, Percival reported 1 Broad-winged Hawk and 1 Northern
Waterthrush.
El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
At Chico Basin Ranch (Fee):
--On May 12, Percival reported a Northern Parula at Rose Pond, 4 Northern
Waterthrush (2 Rose, 2 headquarters) on the Pueblo side and 1 Broad-winged
Hawk, an ad Harris's Sparrow, 1 Northern Waterthrush, 1 Ovenbird, 1
Black-throated Gray Warbler, and 2 White-throated Sparrows on the El Paso side.
Gibbons banded Black-throated Gray Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, and 1
White-throated Sparrow on May 12.
--On May 13, Gibbons and Brown saw the Harris's Sparrow early near the banding
station.
--On May 13, Percival reported 1 Northern Parula at Rose Pond, 1 m Indigo
Bunting south of Rose, and 5 Northern Waterthrush on the Pueblo side; and
on the El Paso side 1 Broad-winged Hawk, 1 Black-throated Gray Warbler, and 1
Northern Waterthrush.
--On May 14, Bill Maynard reported on the Pueblo side: 1 singing Black-throated
Green Warbler, 1 f Black-throated Gray Warbler, 2 m Blackpoll Warblers, 3
Northern Waterthrush, 1 Northern Parula and on the El Paso side Gibbons banded
a male Magnolia Warbler.
Fremont County:
--A White-eyed Vireo was reported by Moss on the Bluff Trail portion of the
Canon City Riverwalk on May 12 and seen again by Moss on May 13.
--A Green Heron was reported by Moss on the Canon City Riverwalk and an Indigo
Bunting next to the Bluff Trail on May 14.
Jefferson County:
--Henwood reported that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW continues at Red Rocks
Trading Post at least through May 14.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Henwood at Bear Creek Lake Park on May
14.
Kiowa County:
--A Worm-eating Warbler was reported by Wild at the Locust Grove at Neenoshe on
May 14.
Larimer County:
--On May 10, Leatherman reported a singing Black-throated Green Warbler at
Grandview in the SE corner, section 9. Wild refound the warbler on May 11.
--On May 13, Leatherman reported that the female White-winged Crossbill is back
on nest at Grandview. He saw both adults and the fledgling on May 12. The new
nest is in the SE corner of Section 1 in a Colorado Blue Spruce.
--A m Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Leatherman in section
9 of Grandview Cemetery on May 13.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Sparks at Lee Martinez Park in Fort
Collins on May 13.
--A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Meyer at Sterling NA in Fort Collins on
May 13. It was on a debris pile under a decommisioned bridge over the Poudre.
--A f Black-throated Blue Warbler was reported by Hall at the federal buildings
in Fort Collins on May 14.
--A Short-billed Dowitcher was reported by Rhoederer at Lake Estes on May 14.
Logan County:
--A m Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Leatherman at Riverside Cemetery in
Sterling on May 11.
Mesa County:
--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Trappet on Bookclilff in the 3000 block
in Grand Junction on May 12. It was in piles of brush on the side of the
street.
Prowers County:
--At Lamar Community College Woods:
----On May 14, Wild reported a f SCARLET TANGER and 1 Northern Waterthrush.
--A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Paulsen in her yard on May 12. Her
yard is at the corner of CR 7 & SS, 1 mile south of Thurston Lake.
Routt County:
--3 Black-bellied Plovers in breeding plumage were reported by Dodson at the
new wetlands at Yampa River SWA west of Hayden on May 1. Luke reported 2
Black-bellied Plover on May 13. Luke reported that public
access to the wetlands has been closed.
Washington County:
--On May 12 at Last Chance, Chavez reported 2 Tennesssee Warblers and a
Northern Waterthrush and Erthal had a Blackpoll Warbler.
--On May 14 at Prewitt Reservoir, Kellner reported Blackpoll Warbler (6m, 3f),
1 singing Northern Watertrush, Northern Parula (2m, 1f), pair of Tennessee
Warblers, 1m Black-and-white Warbler, and 2 ovenbirds.
--In Akron on May 14, Kellner reported 3 m Blackpoll Warblers, 1 Northern
Watertrhush, and 1 tan lored White-throated Sparrow.
--At Last Chance, Kellner reported 1 Northern Waterthrush on May 14..
Weld County:
--A PINE WARBLER was reported by Deininger in Frederick on May 13.
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Deininger in Frederick on May 13.
--On May 14 at Norma's Grove, Kellner reported 1 GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, 2
Northern Waterthrush, and 1 m Blackpoll Warbler.
--At Crow Valley CG on May 14, Kellner reported 1m Blackpoll Warbler.
--A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was found by Himmel at Beebe Draw north of CR 42 and east
of CR 45 on May 14.
--A Short-billed Dowitcher was reported by Prather W of CR 50 and S of CR 52 on
May 14.
--GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Prather on May 14 at (1) W of CR 45 and S of CR
42 and (2) on CR 38 about 1 mile east of US 34, NE of Platteville.
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, May 15 will be to the Wheat Ridge Green Belt
led by Jackie King (303-287-1644). Meet at 0730 at Prospect Park Lake near the
permanent restrooms south of West 44th Ave just east of Robb St. Call leader
if going.
