Baca County:
--An Indigo Bunting was reported by Leatherman at the Carrizo Canyon Picnic
Area on June 18.
Boulder County:
--Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Nunes on the DFO Peak-to-Peak field trip
flying over the Brainard Lake area on June 19.
--A Slate-colored Fox Sparrow was reported by Nunes in a willow thicket north
of Ward on CR 103 on June 19. On June 22, Waltman reported multiple Fox
Sparrows near the intersection of Hwy 72 and CR 103.
Delta County:
--A COMMON BLACK-HAWK was reported by Beason soaring over Hotchkiss on June 15.
El Paso County:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Chartier on June 17 flying from Village
at Skyline on Lower Gold Camp Road to Bear Creek Park towards the dog park.
Gunnison County:
--A basic plumaged YELLOW-BILLED LOON was reported by Wild on
June 20 at the east end of Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Jackson County:
--A Red-necked Grebe in breeding plumage was reported by Percival at Walden
Reservoir on June 15.
Larimer County:
--2 Caspian Terns were reported by Komar at Kechter Pit on June 15.
This is were Kechter Road crosses I-25 SE of Fort Collins.
--A female American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Percival at Upper
Beaver Meadows in Rocky Mountain NP on June 18.
Las Animas County:
--A singing Gray Vireo was reported by Leatherman on SR 109 at mile post 18
north of Rd 197.6 on the east side of SR 109 on June 16.
--On June 22, Duane Nelson reported several Gray Vireos on CR 197.6 --Long
Canyon.
Logan County:
--Northern Cardinals, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Carolina Wren were reported
by Leukering at Tamarack Ranch SWA on CR 385 east on June 19.
Mesa County:
--A male Indigo Bunting was reported by Walker on the Flume Trail in McInnis
Canyon near Fruita on June 15.
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Cooper near the intersection of Monument
and Vista Grande Dr near Connected Lakes in the Grand Junction area on June 16.
Montrose County:
--A female LESSER NIGHTHAWK was reported by Dexter at the Nucla Sewer Ponds on
June 12. On June 15, Dexter reported several LESSER NIGHTHAWKS at the Nucla
Sewer Ponds.
Prowers County:
--A LEAST BITTERN was reported by Leatherman on the east side of Thurston
Reservoir on June 21.
Routt County:
--A single singing Slate-colored Fox Sparrow was reported by Dodson at Beaver
Basin in Routt NF east of Han's Peak Village on June 19.
The DFO field trip for Saturday, June 26 will be Weld County Wanderings led by
Norm Erthal (303-917-2596). Meet Norm at 0700 at the DOW office at 60th and
Broadway: Take the 58th Ave Exit from I-25, go west a short distance to
Broadway and north 2 blocks to the DOW Parking lot on the right. Full day
trip; bring lunch and water, a scope if you have one, sunscreen and insect
repellant. Notify Leader if you plan to attend.
The DFO field trip for Sunday, June 27 will be to Rocky Mountain National Park
led by Chris Owens (303-772-6048). Meet Chris at 0700 at the Beaver Meadows
entrance at the Visitor's Center parking lot. Half-day; bring water and
snacks. Fee area.
