actually, i think it is said in specification that if html parser meets
an unknown tag it should just print it out or leave it unprinted and
continue parsing. and as the net is not wysiwyg since all browsers make
html look different, there is actually very little reason from the user
interface design side of view to use other than default fonts or default
font-families, to maximize the compatability.

when using css, one must be careful, yes, but lot's of nice things can be
done with it. hint: use millimetres as units on stylesheets to make it
compatible with linux netscape.. :)
