But I see that this is maybe they did not understand the full context and reasoning for the change, or that it is just strong difference in opinions (and that others have different opinions). So I extracted all pieces that should be "uncontroversial" from it and started the devlist discussion above and I hope we can get to consensus, rebase this PR eventually and maybe apply some comments that might arise separately.
