Having read the explanations I think [~stefania]'s opinion is the one that
counts here but here are my 2cts:
* +1 to a separate 3.x ticket for the specific problem to those versions
* +1 to the current code if those {{sstableverify}} failures existed before the
PR
* +1 to _not_ making this a 4.0.0 blocker as we have {{sstableutil}} as a
workaround
