That isn't the right way to go about things IMO. If we are porting things, and
introducing new configurations, we should consider how they fit together
properly upfront - particularly if there is disagreement about how it should
work. Punting on this in the past is why our config file is a complete mess
today, and why Ekaterina has had to put in so much work to fix it.
