Ed Nett commented on OPENMEETINGS-2195:
---------------------------------------
Saturday 28 march 10:30 UTC
I am currently logged into the test instance M4 at :8443/next adn I
see the following behavior which doesn't seem right:
I am logged into the "Private Conference Room" as User1 on Firefox
(Windows 10 Pro) and it seems fine.
When I login as User 2 on Edge on Windows 10 Pro and join the same
room with mic only (user 2 has no camera) - I see two tiny mic icons
in user 2's space in the far left column user column by default - both
are grey to the left of the green colored-in circle If I click on the
refresh icon in the same suer 2 area - one of the mic icons disappears
for a second then it re-appears - so there are still 2 of them. I also
get the error notice:
" ?"- it disappeard before i could not it - sorry - will try to
duplicate - something about invalid state...
If I click on the refresh icon on the user 2 dragable user rectangle,
then a third mic icon appears in the far left user column for this
user. There is no mic icon on the top of the dragabble user rectangle
for user 2 who is on Edge.
When I click on the refresh icon in the far left user area for user 2,
one of the 3 tiny mic icons disappears, leaving 2, and on user 2's
computer screen, the entire dragable user rectangle for user 2
disappears, levaing only the dragable user rectangle for user 1.
If I logout and back in again as user 2 (leaving user 1 connected), on
user 2's screen both rectangles are visible and in the far left user
column, user 2 is now at the top with only 1 tiny grey mic icon next
to the green circle - as expected. Refreshing both the refresh icons -
in the far left user column and in the dragable user rectangle of user
2 does NOT add another tiny greay mic icon to user 2's space in the
far left user column (now at the top of the user column).
I never see the tiny mic icon in the dragable user rectangle for user
2, so do not know how to regulate its volume in the user rectangle.
So basically, to get this to work correctly on edge, I had to exit the
room and join it again.
Hope this helps - I will add to this If I can replicate the error
message. I have an old asus which was on xp that has a camera on it -
but I can't seem to get the driver for the camera to work - neither on
win 7 nor on ubuntu studio 18 or 19 - will try again so i can test
video works both ways. For me audio works both ways using edge and
firefox.

> On Chrome: the mic is not enabled by default, when I click on it, it turns
> orangish color and has backslash through it, but it still doesn't work - even
> though I can see the green audio level rising when I speak. This is with the
> other user's mic (I am connected as two different users using the two
> different browsers) disabled.
> When I enable the other users mike (the user on edge) it still doesn't work
> for the user on Chrome. Additionally, each time I click on the mic as the
> chrome user, another little "speaker" icon with its own volume level appears
> in the user column at the right of the user next to the green dot.
