Yi Pan (Data Infrastructure) commented on SAMZA-563:
----------------------------------------------------
[~llamahunter], I think that it would be better to consider the following two
things separately:
# Current version of Samza should work with YARN version up to X
# Additional features in YARN version X that are not included in the current
implementation of Samza need to be added w/o breaking the backward
compatibility of min supported version Y
Currently, HA+Recovery of RM in YARN is not officially supported by Samza. For
example, see SAMZA-519. Hence, I would consider usage of HA+Recovery YARN as
"additional features" for Samza and should be logged in separate JIRA tickets.
IMO, this ticket should focus on that the current version of Samza can run in
max version of YARN 2.6 w/ the feature set that Samza supports (i.e. item #1 in
the above list).
P.S. it would be great if you can elaborate a bit more about what's the
versioning issue below s.t. we can create a JIRA ticket to track it.

My concern is that samza jobs currently can't be run on HA+Recovery yarn
clusters due to versioning issues around app id naming

Thanks!
