   Thanks for tracing this against the current dry-run path and writing down 
the first-slice boundaries so concretely.\n\nThis is now specific enough to 
move from idea discussion into implementation. The scope you listed still looks 
like the right v1:\n1. `--dry-run sample` plus `--sample-limit`\n2. local-only 
execution\n3. real source and transform preview\n4. internal preview sink 
replacement with no target-side writes\n5. fail-fast on restore, savepoint, and 
async combinations\n6. sink DDL preview left for a later opt-in 
follow-up\n\nThe two things I would keep especially visible in the PR are:\n1. 
proof that configured sink factories and save-mode paths are never reached in 
sample mode\n2. deterministic stop / row-limit behavior so the preview exits 
cleanly instead of waiting forever on source completion\n\nSince you are 
already driving the first slice, others should treat this as in progress rather 
than a fresh open claim. A focused PR around exactly these boundaries would be
