Thanks @hutiefang76 and @SEZ9 for confirming the handoff. I'll take this issue and keep the change limited to metadata resolution and its existing tests. I'll cover both map-to-config boundaries, with quoted regex keys, metadata-disabled and enabled-without-datasource controls, and actual datasource merges in flat and nested configurations. The tests will also preserve valid key-path semantics and datasource override precedence. #12443 is still open. I'll reuse its shared helper and explicitly mark it as a dependency, as requested, rather than add another conversion policy.
