Thanks again everyone for all the comments. Like I said earlier, I think this
is a great opportunity to correct the mistakes in {{create}}, and I appreciate
the eyes on.
The patch LGTM, and if I parse Steve's reply correctly ("it's probably OK to
ship as for now"), he's okay with this as a temporary fix while we iterate on
the API. Anu, do you feel strongly about additional hiding beyond making it
protected and annotated as Private I'd like to get this in ASAP so we can
unblock the alpha3 release.
