I helped with the markdown conversion of Tez as part of TEZ-1310. While there
are many extensions to markdown as a whole, maven's doxia plugin uses the
http://pegdown.org implementation which is helpful as a reference. This will
allow you to understand what extensions are available and enable points to
discuss in specifics with regard to this conversion.
