I have FSO and SHR bootable from the flash card, so I boot into one of 
those then:
        mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock6 /media/cf
        vi /media/cf/init.rc

I've changed the mounted partition to mmcblk0p3 in mine to stop it 
writing data all over my FSO rootfs.
