One caveat: a lot of older CD-ROMs may have problems reading CD-R discs.
Anything 4x or faster will probably work just fine, however.  For best
compatibility, get an Apple-branded unit.

If you go this route, make the first CD you burn a CD that has a bootable
System 7.0.1 on it plus the necessary CD-ROM drivers.  Why?  Because it
will work even if the SE doesn't have much RAM (you didn't note how much it
has) and it's pretty easy to work with from there.  You'll want to put the
CD-ROM drivers on a bootable CD because there's no good way to get them on
the SE otherwise.  Likewise with the Zip drivers; you can put them on the
7.0 boot disk too.

Anyone ever tried booting an older Mac like this with a System 6 bootable
CD?  Not sure if it'll work OK or not...if so, that would be an even better
choice.
