I don't know. Other will. But I'd do this: Trash 7.1 but be sure there is a way back: save all extensions and CP etc that you want to save for later (non-system ones). Then download 7.1 and put them on floppies and verify that they work. I'd keep a copy of a working system 6 on floppy with a HD utility at hand, too. Then I'd go ahead and install 7.0.1.
