<snip> ...the root cause of the problem seems to be a > conflict with one of two Control Panels I have on the system - After Dark or > MountCache. Further investigation has proved that I was indeed wasting (copious amounts of) my time and that the After Dark (2.0x) control panel seems to cause the problem. I'm not sure how though, the failure mode is pretty weird - with After Dark installed Linux only boots up if AppleTalk is switched on in the Chooser. If AppleTalk is off, the machine locks so solid not even the interrupt switch affects it. Which brings me to the question, has anyone heard of After Dark conflicting with other programs? Which brings me to another question, just what _is_ MountCache? I'll do a search on it later I guess. Cheers, Adam. -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
