That's a result of Spring Cleaning. It will "trim" off any unneeded part of an app that has fat binary code (that is, code for both 68k and PPC machines). If you have an app that you use on a 68k machine and you don't plan on transferring it to a PPC (or vice versa), that extra code is just sitting around eating up hard disk space.
