Go back to square one. Did you use a formatter that lets you set the interleave to 3:1 ? That Plus may not be able to keep up with the default 1:1 interleave that most Disk Initializers use. Other than that, try fooling with the terminating cap on the external drive's second connector. What happens when it's present.....what happens when it's not....
