One useful thing to keep in mind is that most files that can be successfully
downloaded on a PC are in a TEXT-format, and as such, can be manipulated with
a word-processor, with some care taken.
BinHex'ed files (.HQX) and some others can be loaded into a PC word processor
and split up into sections that will fit on a floppy disk. You just have to
remember to save the sections as TEXT-ONLY (ASCII) on the word processor, not
the native format which includes some binary code.
Then, on the Mac, the file can be re-assembled in much the same way. It's a
little time-consuming, but definitely possible.
I've used Windows 95's built-in "WordPad" word processor to do the splitting,
and Word for Mac 5.1a on the Mac side to re-assemble, with complete success.
On the other hand, if you can get StarGate working on the Mac under a floppy
version of System 7, so much the better. It's a SUPERB program that I use
all the time!
