Hi Compacters - I have been a regular reader of this list and have found many useful tips both on the list and in the faq.
Here's a q. that I hope you can help with - I have a Classic with 4MB a 40MB HDD an HD internal Floppy and am running system 6.0.7. My only access to the Internet is with my PeeCee. I can (and have) downloaded lots of freebies, which can easily be transferred to the Classic - provided that they can fit onto an HD floppy. I would like to be able to transfer larger files, either :- 1. by chopping them up and reassembling them on the Classic.. or 2. by using Stargate - which I have installed both on PeeCee and Mac. 1. I have FileChopper for Windows - is there a corresponding prog. to put the files back together on the Mac ? 2. Stargate will only work with system 7+ on the Mac. I have downloaded AnyMac701-miniF and can boot from floppy (I have no intention of going over to 7 permanently) and run Stargate on the Classic, but it does not seem to recognise the serial ports. Do I need some more extensions on my floppy or what ? Thanks in advance - Rich. -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
