I personally prefer Eudora, as it runs well on all Macs from a 68000 to a G4
and on any OS from System 6 to OS X, and leaves files almost completely
interchangeable, so mail can easily be moved from one machine to another.

Light versions are free, though I don't personally use them any more because my
e-mail needs outgrew the Light version several years ago.
