Yo compacters everywhere, Looking to quiet his Classic, our "Tyrone" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> hypothesizes:
>I think that the classic, although a cheapie at the time, probably has a >cooler running powersupply and analogue board than the Plus ever did. If >anyone has any ideas I'd be greatful. Long ago on this forum, our Clark Martin posted power consumption data he had metered on several compacts. His data metered in volt/amps (nearly the same as watts) shows: compact power in VA Mac Plus 27.7 Mac SE 42.0 Mac Classic 26.9 Mac SE/30 39.3 Thus, Tyrone's hypothesis is correct. The Classic uses the least energy of the compacts shown coming in just a shade cooler than the Plus itself. Of interest here, I have been doing extensive work all winter with the Classic II which uses the same power supply as the Classic. Being the cool time of the year, I have been concerned that the fan of my Classic II was defective as it did dot run at all from late November when first turned on until just recently. Now the fan runs whenever my bench room is a bit warmer than it has been all winter. Indeed, it cycles on and off as the heat cycles on and off. Do I recall that the Classic II and perhaps the Classic have a thermostat in the fan circuit? Tyrone, if you are on the east coast down there, JUST DO IT! If you are out there in a tank town on the Nullarbor, don't do it. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
