Well, it is off-topic :-S (maybe I chould get onto an early PM list too, eh?)... but... well, here's what my 66 MHz PPC 601 is running (nope, no upgrades... no cash (the real kind)!):
-Mac OS 9.1 (off an iMac install CD, how ironic :-) ) -Internet Explorer 5.1 -iTunes 1.0.1 (the one off on the iMac Install CD with OS 9.1, the one on Apple's site only supports X!!) -Virtual PC 4.0 (installs but wont run, crashes with a -2,817 (fragLibConErr, Code Fragment Manager-boot library has initialization routine) error... any ideas?) -MacErrors 2.0.1 :-) -AppleWorks 5 -Fetch 3.0.3 -GraphicConverter 4.4.4 PPC (holy crap! it runs! Last few times I tried running it, it crashed!) -Norton Utilities 6 -Microsoft Office 98 -SimTower :-) -SoundApp PPC (before I got iTunes, this is what I used to play MP3s) -VNC -MSN Messenger -CharisMac Discribe 5.0 Demo That enough? http://www.falconsys.net/mymac01.gif <-- screenshot of all the program windows I could cram on one desktop... ugh... Command-shift-3 -> PC formatted disk -> desktop -> Photoshop 7.0 -> Save for Web -> Server -> you :-) I already swapped out the OEM heatsink off the CPU... it had no circulation and was getting hotter than all heck... so I modified a PC Pentium heatsink & fan and fastened it onto the CPU with 2 twisties and some electrical tape (to keep the ends of the twisties from causing havoc underneath). Not it stays nice and cool... but what about the cache? It's hotter than the CPU now! iTunes plays just fine... ripping's another story. It rips digitally (didn't know SCSI could do that!), and does so at 0.4 ~ 0.5x to an MP3, about 4x straight to AIFF. While playing an MP3, the vis can actually keep up with itself too, at about 1fps! It's amazing! > Falcon, > > Nice setup! What version of iTunes are you running on the 6100 and how > well does it work?
