Googling arround, I have found a company that makes IDE-to-Compact Flash
adapters. This means that you can just plug a CF card in that adaptor, and
use it as an IDE device - it will appear to the computer as a hard disk
with the same size as the CF card. Thus, if we obtain an SCSI-to-IDE
adaptor, in theory we would be able to boot *any* Mac (except the 128 and
the 512) from a CF card.
You might be on to something... Well done.
Heres one from last time this topic done the rounds http://dreher.net/CFforAppleII/ http://www.mesanet.com/diskcardinfo.html http://www.abiatech.com/fb4617.htm http://linitx.com/products/compact_flash_ide_adapter/ http://www.acscontrol.com/Index_ACS.asp?Page=/Pages/Products/CompactFlash/IDE_To_CF_Adapter.htm http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/IDE/IDE_to_SCSI/ide_to_scsi_adapter.html http://www.acard.com/eng/product/scside/aec-7720u.html http://www.memorylabs.net/acaecscsitbr.html http://www.m-sys.com/index.asp
This SCSI-to-IDE adaptor would also be a solution to the problem of copying
large amounts of data between a Mac and a PC: just format an IDE drive in
HFS, copy the data into it using TransMac or HFV Explorer, and plug it to
the Mac using the adapter. Simple :-) .
Can anyone provide information on where to get an SCSI-to-IDE adapter?
SCSI TO IDE adapters do exist. What about: http://www.scsi2ide.com/
Well there are a few in the links above. Somewhere there's a link to a site about a powerbook, being IDE which had the drive replaced with a flash card. Scsi to IDE adapter required for other macs. The old apple not really caring one way or another. :)
Links above where originally posted by the list mom and Snook John R. Thread name SCSI and Compact Flash, December last year. Nothing new on this list.
