I had the same problem with getting my Mac SE on the internet. It turns out that you need to open up the "TCP/IP" Control Panel, and enter in some server address numbers in the "Name server addr." text box (they look like something like this: 207.217.126.81). You might be able to find these numbers on your internet service provider's web page in the support section.
