See if this works

I was amused that MacTCP's "Dynamic" button doesn't actually use DHCP but
merely picks a non-pingable IP address at random! It does have an option to
"get IP from server" when using dialup, but I'm using Ethernet and use dhcpd
to dynamically assign IPs to each machine, so Open Transport may be a better option for me.

It's been a very long time since I used Mactpc for dialup, thanks for the refresher. I like static addressing on the compacts and other mobile (sort of) macs. I hate the time it takes for Open Transport to find a default address when they are moved.

I have only 20MB, but that's enough to run MacSSH, AOL Instant Messenger, and Netscape 4, though not all at the same time! =)

Thats NS4 I'm guessing, have you looked at icab or the others? I also use NS. AOL can be retained without the rest of NS4 installed?
I've had good success with exodus running Gimp and Mozilla on a 040, My VI has leaking caps or I'd try it on that. Connection is via RSH.
EXodus Version 7 was the last to support both ppc and 68k, I think.

Bizarre is a good way to describe Mactpc's interface, once you get it
right you are unlikely to forget how you did it.

Just keep multiplying by 256!

1.2.3.4:

( ( 1 * 256 + 2 ) * 256 + 3 ) * 256 + 4

:) I have no idea as usual.
