running a web server on a dial up account is a very very silly idea indeed.
particularly given how cheap high availability hosting is. for instance: i
have a domain & database with unlimited traffic for $10AUD a month. it's
always on, and there are no added security risks on my internal network.

**having said this, it may well be fun to have a webserver on your desk. i
confess to having one myself. it's for pre-production testing and i do have
cable.
