I installed a new (box unopened, shrinkwrap still on, etc.) Asante MC+30IET64 card into my SE/30. The SE/30 is running System 7.5.5, 250MB HDD, 128MB RAM.
Hello.
I changed the Slot Address on the card from 9 (the default) to A.
I did a completely new installation of System 7.5 and the 7.5.3 update and left off the Asante drivers this time. I am able to switch to Ethernet in the AppleTalk control panel whereas I was not able to do so before when I had the Asante drivers on System 7.5.5.
I hooked up a crossover Ethernet cable between my Power Mac 7300/200 and the SE/30 and switched both to use Ethernet for AppleTalk. Nothing shows up in either machines' Chooser. I know AppleTalk is working on both because I had to use it on both machines' printer ports to move the 7.5.3 update over to the SE/30. I know the Ethernet port on the 7300 works because I keep it hooked up to my router and use it through there.
I also tried using a regular Ethernet cable between the SE/30 and my Linksys BEFSR81 router and tried pinging the manually assigned IP address. Ping came back saying the host was down.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff Bernstein
