Can I just use any PC speaker?
That speaker is "melted" into the front grille of the Mac. It's more likely to be the sound-making circuit. You might want to take it completely apart and check the motherboard for leaky capacitors. You can see the speaker while you're doing it. And, if you want, take a PC speaker and hook it to the motherboard to see what's not working. > Secondly, the HDD light that was in the machine plugged into a jumper on the > original 80MB hard drive and was positioned purely by means of some sticky > tape. If you can get a schematic for your IBM, it may have a spot to connect the plug from the HD light. There isn't any place on the motherboard, I believe, for the light cable to plug into.
