The brochure compares the Macintosh with the "October 1983" standard config of the IBM PC (see bottom of page 8). And in page 7, it says "And in 1984, Macintosh will set the third industry standard". Both sentences fit the December 1983 date, so it could be true. But I think it would be more correct to think that December is the date when it was prepared, and that it was published in the early 1984, because in the back cover, the brochure says that Macintoshes can be tried at Apple dealers.
