The SE30, even without a color card of any brand,
can print in color as it has QuickTime programmed into the rom.

What makes the Micron Xceed card attractive is it's ability to display 256k
gray scale on the existing interior monitor. External color cards for the
SE30 are not that rare. I have, and have run across, several different
models. The one I have is probably the most common next to the Radius cards,
a Lapis SE30 Server color card that will display on an external Mac or VGA
color monitor. I picked it up for $30 on ebay a year ago. It came new in box
with software and manuals. The SE30, even without a color card of any brand,
can print in color as it has QuickTime programmed into the rom. I hope your
friend does get top dollar for his card. But don't get his hopes up too
high. The only ones I see going for high dollar amounts, are the ones that
allow internal grayscale display.

IS what he's saying true? What would this really trade for on the list?

It's just a garden-variety Mac video card that happens to be made for the
SE/30 expansion slot. Any such card would work in color, require no
drivers, and turn on quickly; none of that is remarkable or indicative of
"acceleration". The Radius Pivot card for the SE/30 has all these
features, plus the ability to drive pivot monitors.

The more I'm reading, the more you accidentally tend to prove my point. How many Compact Mac owners have a Radius Pivot card lying around? A show of hands, please.....

On one point he is definitely wrong; there is no way a card made for the
SE/30 would work in an SE; the expansion slots are different.

There are no distinguishing marks on the card. Opening an SE of mine, I discovered the slot in side it is a different length. I'll retract that statement in the auction.

A lot of hardware for the compact Macs is not described on the internet,
since it is all older than the world wide web. Rare? maybe just not very
popular. From our perspective, the ability to use a "standard" monitor
seems valuable, but back then the really big full page and dual page
monochrome monitors were much more attractive for desktop publishing.

So far, I've been only unable to find anything about Dove, and this
Memory Plus video card. Bear in mind, I believe the card will work with any
non-multisync monitor with a DB 15 connector up to, say, 21 inches?

Such a device would not be worth more than $10 or $15 to me.

All well and good. I stand by my original postulation in that regard.
I'm selling it for a medically challenged friend. They deserve top dollar.

Considering that, where color is present on the hard disk, an SE/30 can
produce a quick, non-lagging non-system-slowing color image at 256 colors
using this card and a standard DB15 monitor, I'll keep calling it an
excellent alternative to the No-Longer-Available Micron Exceed.
