No colour from an SE? Was there not an app called Poem, which was used with the SE to create colour designs for machine embroidery, for example team logos on sweatshirts?

Interesting point. As a matter of fact, colour on compacts wasn't an easy option before the SE/30 which had Colo(u)r QuickDraw in ROM, allowing for elegant PDS colour card solutions by Lapis and others. But ISTR there was a company called Orchid (rather than Lapis) that managed somehow to get colour on the SE via the SCSI port; a weird setup indeed, but it worked - reportedly, never really saw one. I presume they found a workaround translating some patterns to colours or the like. Keep in mind there were the "rainbow" ribbons for the ImageWriter to print in colour (well, sort of). No idea, too, if the Orchid box worked on all SCSI-capable compacts or if it was limited to the SE.
