OK, I pulled the motherboard out a little bit (as far ass I can given the connection between the board and the back case) and I can make out the following text on the edge of the daughtercard: Plus FPD, copyright Lapis Technologies.

I'm guessing it's some kind of video out card. I will try to pull the computer apart tonight, and if successful, I'll post pictures to my .Mac site.

The port is a 9 pin D connector, female.

Two of them have a strange VGA-style port sticking out of the security
slot. When I cracked open one of these, I saw that this port is
connected by a cable to a daughtercard on the motherboard. I was unable
to pull the motherboard without disconnecting some wires to this port,
but I was able to see that the card had a copyright notice from Lapis
Technologies on it.

Indeed the name Lapis suggests video but it is not 100% confirmation. How many pins on the external connector? A 15 pin female D connector is strongly indicative of video; a 25 female D connector suggests SCSI or other I/O. If there is a real daughterboard, can you describe any of the chips?

Any chance of pictures?
