MacTCP v2.0.6 and System 7.0.1

I have an Asante Ethernet adapter in my SE/30. The Asante driver 
installation comes with MacTCP 1.1.1. Is MacTCP 2.0.6 compatible with 
System 7.0.1? People tell me to install 7.5 but I'm trying to avoid that 
since 7.5 is the start of the bloated Classic MacOS.. 6.0.8 -> 7.1 were 
pretty stripped down and I'd prefer to keep using this version.
