I think I was the one who started this thread...
So how do I get my router to recognize my SE's ip address???
System 6.0.8, Asante PDS Ethernet card, 4 megs ram.
the router passes appletalk packets just fine (although I can't serve files from the SE-- It crashed when I tried installing the Appleshare 2.0.1 server SW, but the 3.5 workstation SW works ok). I have 2 of my G3 volumes set to auto-mount on the SE desktop at startup.
I'm trying to configure macTCP and nothing I do seems to work...
According to Apple System Profiler on the G3... TCP/IP Installed: Yes Active: Yes Version: 2.7.9 Personal Web Sharing: is off Multihoming: is off USB Printer Sharing: Not installed Netmask: 255.255.255.0 IP address: 192.168.2.100 Default gateway address: 192.168.2.1 Domain: netvision.net Name server address: 194.90.1.5
Based on this I messed around w/ macTCP on the SE (using "Obtain address manually"-- "Dynamicly" wouldn't give me those critical last 3 digits, just 192.168.2.0) until I got TattleTech to report... MacTCP is Running = Yes + MacTCP Version = 1.1.1 + IP Address = 192.168.2.105 + Gateway Address = 192.168.2.1 + Default Domain Server Name = netvision.net + Default Domain Server Address = 194.90.1.5 Ethernet is Running = No + EtherNet Hardware Address = NA Current Connection Type = EtherTalk Phase 2
This is your problem here. You have MacTCP set to MacIP. You need to set it to Ethernet.
So why doesn't the router's configuration web-page list recognize the SE's
IP address?????? I also tried pinging it & it fails...
