I just went through this! Install 7.5.3 Launch Network Switcher and switch to OpenTransport. Reboot and select the AppleTalk control panel, choose ethernet. Open TCP/IP (not MacTCP) and configure your network.
Turn on sharing to make sure your SE is visible. :) Enjoy!
