This is only a problem if the Mac is plugged into a 10/100 switch, seems to 
affect many cards, not just asente's since I have a Sun with the same 
problem, and seems to affect the earlier models. The fix thankfully is very 
easy. Buy a 10BaseT hub and put it between the Mac and the switch, problem 
solved.

So if your Mac is attached to a 10/100 switch and you cant talk to your 
network, find a little hub.
