Any terminated SCSI drive of the same physical dimensions. Upgrade to a 
faster one with lots more space! To replace the hard drive, you need to 
get the lower front bezel off, which can be challenging on that model.

That should work. Either your disk is bad, or more likely the drive needs 
cleaning. Floppy drive cleaning disks work pretty well for me.

Either of those would work fine, *if* you had a System on the media that 
is compatible with your Mac. To force an old Mac like that to boot off of 
a CD, press Cmd-Opt-Shift-Delete until you see the happy Mac.

I wouldn't call your 550 dead, it just has 2 of the 3 most common 
failures: expired hard drive and dirty floppy drive. (The other common 
failure is dead PRAM battery). The display system on those is so nice it 
is probably worth fixing.
